Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) is a non-profit organization for
Information Technology that was founded in 1982 and, provides training to
members, companies and individual bodies. Upon course completion, a certificate
is issued from the organization which certifies an individual with the
knowledge and skill sets to function as a technical persons anywhere in the
world.
WHY COMPTIA A+?
The compTIA
A+ is the starting point for a career in Information and Communications
Technology (ICT). The course training covers maintenance of Computers, Mobile
devices, Laptops, Operating systems and Printers.
The course
is broken into 4 parts and, certification in 1(one) and any other one choice
amongst 2, 3 & 4 below makes a complete A+ certified technician.

WHO NEED A+ TRAINING?
Anyone whom
by reason of office work or place of residence have access to a laptop/desktop
computer or any mobile device/application whether modern or of old version
technology is eligible for the compTIA A+ training and certification exam.
In the learning path for A+ course, one has to
be familiar with the four basic stages of computer function (Input of data, Processing the data, Output which
displays the result of processing and Storage of resulting data.
Again, you should be able to recognize various
plugs, ports, jacks and connectors on a computer. Detailed below are some cables
and ports pictures and their functions.
USB The Universal Serial Bus commonly called USB
cord is a universal type of connector that allows many devices (Cameras,
Printers, Scanners etc) to connect to your PC and share data with it (Pictures,
Files etc) can be shared via this port and cable connection.
RJ45
This is a standard type of connector for network connections, they are mostly seen with Ethernet cables and Networks. The port is usually called the Ethernet or Network port. This port can be found not only on computers but also in a number of devices and it functions primarily to connect systems and devices to a common function.

The RJ11 is the cable
terminal on the end of a telephone cable. The cable plugged into your PC helps
to carry voice or analog signals to a desired destination.

Parallel Ports
Parallel cable is used to connect to the parallel ports on a
Computer.This connection is becoming repaced by the universal funtionality of
USB ports and strage devices.

HDMI Port This port serves the High Definition Media
Interface (HDMI) cable which is known for passing high definition videos from
one device to another. HDMI supports on a single cable, any TV or PC video
format including enhanced and standard definition vidoes amongst others.
Serial Port
This port is used to connect a modem, data
acquisition terminal or other device via a serial interface. Serial ports provide
very slow speed and is being superseded by USB and other faster interfaces
connectors like firewire etc.
